March Holidays - Fun for the Whole Family!




March holidays are creeping around the corner. If you haven’t decided what to do with the kids during this weeklong break, fret not because we at Weekend Kids have got you covered. From staying fit and active with ActiveSG’s array of exercises, to reading books at National Library, we definitely have something for every type of child to keep entertained during this season. Here are a series of fun filled activities to get your children hyped up for the holidays!

  1. Get active with ActiveSG’s endless list of activities!

Photo: ActiveSG From child only activities to fun for the whole family, ActiveSG has a list of incredible activities to keep both you and your child occupied during the holidays. From archery, to badminton, trampoline bounce classes, or even a life skill like CPR, there’s definitely an activity to keep you all active! How about trying out aeromodelling with your child? Sign up for the parent and child mini glider workshop and build a chuck glider together. Or if that’s not to your fancy, register for some aquatic fun with aqua workouts, games, and even a workout that’s suitable for the whole family! Find out more about ActiveSG’s programmes here

From 10-14 March, enjoy a whole host of activities, with both paid and free options available at Esplanade. For free options, Join The Rattle King in his journey to rediscover himself in a musical celebration of empathy and Harmony from 12-14 March, or join the “My Feelings Mask” workshop from 10-14 March to make an expressive mask and share the story behind it! Photo: Esplanade Singapore For paid events, participate in the Re-Imagine A Character! Costume Making workshop to have fun with character devising and costume making as a parent and child pair.

From nature centric activities such as nature photography, to more kid centric activites such as the Nature Drama series, NParks has ensured that you will enjoy a fun filled and environmentally conscious week ahead. Photo: NParks The ticketed drama series “Where the Wild Things Are” on Tuesday 16 March, teaches children to care for nature and develop and appreciation for biodiversity, and even be able to create and bring back their own dish garden!

Stroll alongside Hello Kitty as she takes you on her ideal flower viewing itinerary, from posing beside rickshaws to locating the best spots for an outdoor tea ceremony. ArtScience Museum has got jam packed activities lined up during the Holidays, all focused on being environmentally conscious and creating a cleaner and greener place where we live in. Some activities include:

  • 12 March: ABCs of Plant Power where you can learn the benefits of home gardening

  • 13-14 March: Tinker with Trashure to create your own artwork from recycled trash

  • 15 and 29 March: Stand Up and Speak Out! Make your own banner that addresses an issue or cause of your choice

  • 17 and 31 March: Make your Own Shrink Art with Recycled Plastics Workshop

  • 19 March and 2 April: Make your own Reusable Bag to reduce usage of single use plastics

From building a skyscraper, to perfecting paper prototyping, spark your child’s interest in books and various activities at the National Library!   1. Science-y activities at Science Centre

Photo: Science Centre World Water Day is on at Science Centre to raise awareness about the value and scarcity of water through a variety of activities and experiential gallery hunt. Together with your child, you can learn more about the water cycle, different uses of water and the importance of conservation. Apart from that, get creative with the “Wet and Wild” activity booths, all free of charge!

Photo: Science Centre Truly Madly Science Camps are best for children ages 10-12 years old. Featuring a variety of different themed camps, take your pick on the camp activities throughout the year! Start off with the Foam Flinging Fest camp on 15-16 March, where you can get to make your own battery powered foam dart blaster. There is a package for signing up for more than one camp, so make sure you check and see if you can sign up for more!
